Matt was on as Dennis for both shows on Saturday, 10/31
Dennis rocks platform shoes, corduroys, sunglasses and LONG wavy brown hair which has got to be a bit of a challenge to work - especially with a mic on your cheek.
Matt's singing is strong and sure, his comedic timing is right on - perfect pregnant pauses, and he adds so many fun "extras" to Dennis...like silly hand shadows through the glass of the office door ( I even saw pacman in there) - he's so much fun to watch.
I didn't plan to see this show 3 times within a month - (thank goodness for lottery seats and generous friends) - but I'm SO glad I did...and SO glad I got to see Matt's Dennis

The ROA twitter has a great picture of Matt as Dennis (you can see it in our gallery, too) and comments from people who saw the shows on 10/31! Lots of Matt love! twitpic.com/nwl1v

A theater savvy blogger includes Matt's performance in his list of "bests": Best Understudy Performances (Not Replacements): 4. Chris Hoch as Lord Farquaad in Shrek the Musical - Excellent, considering Christopher Siebert was a big reason I wanted to see it in the first place. 3. Matthew Stocke as Dennis in Rock of Ages - He was so good, he stuck out. 2. Jay Armstrong Johnson as Claude in Hair - If it couldn't be Gavin, I'm glad it was him. 1. Jessica Phillips as Diana in next to normal - Truly a revelation in the role. Brilliant. jkstheatrescene.blogspot.com/2009/12/2009-in-review-best-and-not-best.html
